In Fond Memory of Randy Harwood

Professor, Computing & Information Technology

Professor Randy Harwood

Randy Harwood was born April 9, 1945, in Inglewood, California. He passed away August 14, 2012, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Randy joined the CIT Department in 1998. He came to CSN with a wealth of experience in the IT industry and teaching at the college level. He taught programming and developed a fledgling UNIX/Linux speciality into a thriving, popular program. Randy was twice chosen by the CIT faculty to be Department Chair (2006 – 2008 and 2009 – 2011).

When not in committee meetings, in front of a classroom, or at his computer helping online students, Randy spent precious time with his family and pursuing his passions: sailing and art. He treasured times on the boat, and relaxed by capturing images of boats, lighthouses and seascapes in sketches and watercolors. A few of these scenes are shown in the gallery below.

Randy – the teacher, the leader, the mentor, the colleague, the friend – will be greatly missed.
